Every season is beautiful in its own way. I love living in Dubai, where it is sunny and warm all year round. Still, I find myself longing for the changing seasons, especially the autumn leaves. I am grateful that our travels to our home country, Lithuania, allow me to experience all four seasons. During this midterm break, we traveled there again, and I was able to enjoy my fall garden at its best.
October in the Garden
For me, my garden is beautiful no matter the time of year. But in October, it is especially breathtaking, thanks to the intensely colored leaves of our hundred-year-old maple trees.
Watching the leaves change from green to yellow, orange, brown, and red is something incredibly special. So is walking through the colorful carpets they create beneath the trees.
A Morning Among the Autumn Leaves
We arrived late in the evening, long after dark. There was little of the fall scenery to see. But the next morning, I went outside with my camera to capture the colors of my fall garden. The morning was crisp and cold. I took some photos and gathered roses, branches, and greenery from the garden to make autumn arrangements for the rooms. I was glad I had gone outside early to enjoy the garden. Later that day, a team of gardeners came to blow all those beautiful autumn leaves into piles, collect them in bags, and take them away. The garden felt a bit sad after that. However, within a few hours, colorful leaves had covered the ground again. That is the beauty of the fall.
For a brief moment, the garden seemed to hold every color of autumn. I could sit by the window with a cup of tea and admire the autumn foliage all day. Autumn indeed shows us how beautiful it is to let things go.
