Our summer garden in the heart of Vilnius belongs to our 19th-century villa. The house was once built as a countryside home on what was then the outskirts of the city. Today, it is difficult to imagine that this peaceful, green corner is only a short walk from the Old Town.
When we first found the property, both the house and garden had been neglected for years. Yet beneath it all, I could see what they might become. Slowly, we brought the historic villa garden back to life, preserving its old trees while planting roses, flowers, and greenery around them.
Perhaps that is why summer here feels particularly rewarding. There is something wonderful about seeing the garden reach that brief moment when everything seems to be in full bloom at once.
Summer in Full Bloom
On this particular summer day, the garden seemed to be at its peak. The roses were fragrant, the old trees were heavy with green leaves, and flowers filled the spaces between them. I took my camera outside simply to capture the garden as it was that day.

What I love most about the garden in summer is its abundance. Nothing feels too perfect or too arranged. Roses mingle with greenery, old trees cast their shade over younger plants, and every corner seems to have found its own way to grow.

There are many things I love about this summer garden. Perhaps most of all, I love the feeling of being surrounded by something that has grown slowly over time. The old trees were here long before us, while other parts of the old villa garden carry the choices we have made along the way.

On summer days like this one, when everything is green and blooming, I am simply happy to be here.

Amazing! It looks stupendous!❤️
Thank you, Ingrid!
