For the second year in a row, we celebrated my husband’s birthday with breakfast at Burj Khalifa, in the world’s tallest restaurant. AT.MOSPHERE is a luxury restaurant located on the 122nd floor of the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building and Dubai’s most iconic landmark.
We had been there the year before and enjoyed it so much that choosing somewhere else this time was hardly an option. When we started discussing where to go for Daddy’s birthday this year, both kids immediately insisted on AT.MOSPHERE again.
Breakfast in the Clouds
Our breakfast in the clouds started at 7 a.m., which felt early for a weekend. But we wanted to catch the beautiful morning light. A 9 a.m. breakfast might have been more comfortable for a weekend, but we would have missed the beautiful colors and light that only the early morning can create.
The views from the highest point in Dubai were breathtaking. I felt as though I could see all the way to the neighboring Emirates. Buildings shone in the early morning sun, while the distant city disappeared into a soft pink haze.
The food and service were outstanding. Our waiter and the rest of the staff made the morning feel particularly special. Our two-course breakfast felt more like a feast, ending with a birthday dessert.
From so high above, we watched the vast city slowly wake beneath us. Enjoying those extraordinary views over breakfast in the clouds was an unforgettable experience.
A Bird’s-Eye View of the World
There is something inexplicably magical about seeing the world from high above. I’m terrified of heights. I feel uncomfortable and unsafe at the edge of a mountain or on the open balcony of a tall building. However, there’s something extraordinary about having a bird’s-eye view of the world. I never seem to tire of it.
If you ever find yourself in Dubai, breakfast at Burj Khalifa this high above the city is certainly an experience to remember. Until then, I am sharing some views from our breakfast at the top of the world.
