Goodbye, summer 2024! See you next year!

Every year, as the days grow shorter and the air gets just a little crisper, at the end of August, it’s time to bid farewell to the soft and golden days of Lithuanian summer and come back to the hot Dubai. Goodbye summer! See you next year! This season, with an incredibly high amount of sun-kissed days, long evenings, spontaneous adventures, and seeing friends, has been really memorable.

As we say goodbye to this summer, here are the highlights of it. My last one was in 2020. I should do this type of inventory every year. It is nice to check the history and compare.

Goodbye summer

This summer, I enjoyed simple pleasures – from breathing fresh, crisp early morning air during my breakfast to watching sunsets that painted the sky in hues of orange and pink.

Goodbye summer

We saw our extended family and friends. I met my girlfriends from childhood and adulthood. We shared laughter and stories with all these people.

This summer, I found myself indulging in golf again. After trying golf a couple of years ago in Dubai and realizing that I needed to practice a lot to make it enjoyable for my perfectionist and “all or nothing” type personality, I thought it was not for me. However, I started to enjoy it thanks to Saulius, who pushed me to golf again by buying all the equipment, arranging lessons, and just taking us to the golf fields regularly. Again, the nature, fresh air, calmness, and a chance to be together bribed me.

We also had a chance to travel twice this summer to one of my favorite cities, London. I deeply admire British culture and how British people keep traditions alive. I also adore London parks.

Summer in London

To feed my wild soul, I took part in two hunts.

As usual, we had many special occasions to celebrate during this summer. We celebrated Izabele’s birthday in Vilnius, my birthday on a plane from Amsterdam to Dubai, and Saulius’s birthday in Dubai. Saulius and I also celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary at the Lithuanian seaside.

We went to two concerts, two musicals, and many museums.

The Ritz

I went to some amazing restaurants, from the very secret The O, which does not have a web page or social media account, and its address is not found anywhere (you can only get it from the people who have been there), to the Michelin-starred fine-dining exquisite restaurant at the Ritz.

I ate the best ice cream and cakes in the world, the sweetest watermelons, and lots of meat. On July 14th, I started a carnivore diet, and I am still eating carnivorous way. I had only some cake slices and bites during Izabele’s, Saulius’s, and my birthdays after July 14, and no food other than meat, seafood, or dairy.

Summer season

Summer has its magic that never fails to rejuvenate our spirits. When I said goodbye to the summer season, I felt a bit sad but excited, too. The new school year is a new beginning not only for kids but also for moms—sort of a new, fresh page to write on. There is also a sense of excitement for cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice everything, falling leaves, all shades of yellow, orange, and brown, and finally good weather in Dubai again, weekends at the beach, boating, and many more. We are fortunate that we can enjoy seasons in different ways. For us, fall means the traditional fall and the summer extension.

Goodbye, summer 2024—you’ve been fantastic! See you next year with all your sunshine, laughter, and endless possibilities!
