Annual Audit of My Life 2024

It looks like 2024 ended in the blink of an eye.  Some live their everyday life and do the same routines over and over. Nonetheless, many of us like to make resolutions for the new year. The new year is a fresh start. Resolutions give us a chance to improve. They help us set intentions to grow. But to make valuable and meaningful resolutions, we must reflect on achievements, challenges, and lessons learned. To clarify, we need to conduct an annual audit of our life.

The start of the new year is a perfect time to audit your life. What was your year like? Where are you now? And where do you want to go? When the holiday rush was over, at the beginning of this new year, I carved out some time from my schedule and looked back at the highlights, lessons, and moments of growth that 2024 brought into my life. Photographs are memories frozen in time. We have so many of them nowadays. So, I went through all my photos and videos of the year 2024 on my phone and computer. I went through them a couple of times. This helped me to check for patterns, smiles, joy, sadness, trips, and food. Moreover, I investigated people around me, places, activities, and things captured in my photos. In other worlds, I tried to find the meaning and repeating themes.

My early life audit

Annual Audit of my life 2024 questions to myself:

What were the highlights of the year?

During this last year, I made 1795 photos and videos throughout the year. But only 234 of them have me in them. I made 48 selfies. There were many flowers and my meal photos. I ate lots of steak. I made 13 international trips. For instance, five of them I went to London, and three to Lithuania. In addition, I do not read as many books as possible (I always take a photo of the book I finish reading).

I like to make photos of the quotes I like. Quote of the year 2024: “Information gathering is my drug of choice.”

What (things, events, and people) brought you joy?

  • Trips (LA, St. Moritz, Santorini, London, Maldives)
  • Dates with my husband
  • Strolling in the gardens, golf walks, walks in the city, hunting walks
  • Family celebrations and hosting events at home
  • Going to the concerts and theaters

What made you happy?

  • Good sleep
  • Good digestion
  • No allergy

What pictures make you smile and make your heart warm?

  • Flowers and gardens
  • All photos made with a photo camera
  • Our family Christmas photos with Harrods bears
  • Photos where I am dressed up and happy

Other questions I asked myself:

Do you smile in photos?

Do you look healthy? What about your family members?

Do you like your body image?

Do your photos show a healthy life, positive activities, and positive emotions?

In what you were good and what not?

Are there friends and family in your photos?

Are the five people you have seen most around you the ones that have positively influenced your life?

What do you want more of something in your life next year?

Maybe after the photo audit, you see something missing, or it was too little of that?

What made you scared?

What made you feel bad?

Where did you feel friction?

Do you see your themes of interests, limitations, or weaknesses?

What are the people, experiences, and commitments that created positive feelings, energy, and memories this year?

What people and commitments triggered negative feelings, energy and emotions for you this year?

What did you learn about yourself over the past year?

What are you going to start doing this year?

What are you going to continue doing this year?

What can you do today to make the first step toward making 2025 your best year yet?

Highlights Worth Cherishing

2024 was filled with adventures and meaningful experiences. From international trips that added new stories to my life to quiet family moments, the year was a beautiful blend of excitement and introspection. Similarly, concerts, strolls in gardens, and a renewed focus on hobbies added joy, while family celebrations stood out as some of the most precious times.

Certainly, one of the most rewarding parts of the year was rediscovering the joy of focusing on what truly matters: nurturing creativity, embracing nature, and cherishing quality time with loved ones.

Lessons from Challenges

Like any year, 2024 had its fair share of challenges. Balancing life, health, and commitments wasn’t always easy. I learned how vital it is to listen to my body and mind, especially when faced with health hurdles. Therefore, the journey toward self-care became a central theme, reminding me to focus on wellness through better choices in diet and lifestyle.

Social connections were another area of growth. Some friendships deepened, while others faded, but each change brought clarity about who I want to surround myself with in the years to come.

What I Learned About Myself

This year’s audit certainly reminded me that personal growth often comes from within. I’ve come to appreciate the value of solitude and the importance of creating moments of joy, even when life feels overwhelming. I’ve also realized how much I thrive when I pursue creative projects and step into spaces where I feel visible and appreciated.

In conclusion, this exercise helped me to relive all the good emotions and reevaluate all the bad ones. I had my detective glasses on and checked what was serving me and what was not. I did my annual audit of my life 2024 and evaluated my frozen memories in photographs to create new directions for 2025, not just random abstract wishes and goals. Le’s meet the moments again and let them teach us. Let’s see what the next chapter holds!

How was your 2024? What are you looking forward to in 2025?
