We have waited for Expo 2020 Dubai for a long time. Sadly, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are still waiting for it. We hope that this iconic event will finally run from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022. However, where is an opportunity to get a sneak peek at Expo 2020 right now. Expo 2020 Pavilions Premiere is inviting visitors to experience three pavilions before the official opening date.
Thirst pavilion opened for the public was the Sustainability Pavilion – Terra. Expo 2020 Pavilions Premiere promises to open two more pavilions to the public for a sneak peek at Expo 2020 in the nearest future too.
Currently, unlit 10 April 2021, you can visit Terra pavilion, which means ‘Planet Earth.’ UK-based Grimshaw Architects designed this cutting-edge pavilion which meets the highest available accreditation for sustainable architecture – LEED Platinum certification.
“The pavilion aims to illuminate the ingenuity and possibility of architecture as society looks to intelligent strategies for sustainable future living. The pavilion is one of three at the expo, presenting the opportunity to deliver an aspirational message about the natural world, ecology and technology to a global audience.
Drawing inspiration from complex natural processes like photosynthesis, the dynamic form of the pavilion is in service to its function, capturing energy from sunlight and fresh water from humid air.
Sited in a prominent location, the pavilion structure works in tandem with the considered landscape of demonstration gardens, winding pathways and shaded enclaves to create an aura of magic punctuated by the sights, smells and tactile opportunities of nature.
The gardens surrounding the pavilion design are an integral part of the visitor experience, both experiential and functional, setting the stage for the exhibition contents within and creating gathering areas that will manage and distribute crowds while providing retail, food and beverage opportunities.” (https://grimshaw.global, 2021)
We went to visit Terra a week ago, and we had a wonderful time there. So many local volunteers warmly welcomed us on every step we made. We also felt how much thought was put into safety and cleanliness measures. The pavilion itself is breathtaking, educational, and encouraging better habits and sustainable choices. We walked through E-trees garden, wandered through forest roots, dived to ocean depths, explored humankind’s relationship with nature.
You can do so many exciting activities in Dubai, but visiting Expo 2020 Terra Sustainability pavilion is a must.
I am sharing a sneak peek at Expo 2020 in my Terra Sustainability Pavilion photos. Enjoy!

This is a Lithuanian pavilion still in construction next to the Slovenian pavilion. We are looking forward to visiting it when it is going to be open. Now you can check my country’s pavilion online https://www.expo2020.lt
