Healing Paradise: A Week in the Maldives after a Challenging Chapter

Healing Paradise in Maldives

Sometimes, life gives us unexpected challenges, testing our resilience, toughness, strength, and ability to endure. After that, we need some healing and time to recover. It’s very powerful to experience recovery from all the troubles and worries in a different environment, which could work as a healing paradise.

My last month was stressful, physically demanding, and mentally hard, with the exhausting first week of April. Little sleep, lots of physical work, and little time to remember or drink water. That was one of the hardest times in my life. The exhaustion was taking over my ability to think clearly. I needed to change my environment, step back from the current situation, mentally and physically heal and rest. I am sure I was pushing my limits and living on the edge of burnout.

Often, we become so engrossed in the challenges life presents that we lose sight of the bigger picture. Then, we struggle to set appropriate boundaries. Sometimes, the people around us are better positioned to see what we need and offer valuable support. For me, this voice of reason was my husband. He was the one who reminded me to drink, to eat, and to go to sleep. He was also the one, who understood how much I needed to step back and to rest.

Setting aside moments for healing and rejuvenation is essential during life storms. Luckily, I had a person beside me thinking soberly and removing me from endless tasks and responsibilities. In fact, he took us to a sanctuary of rest – a healing paradise. This sanctuary came in the form of a week in the Maldives. It was our tranquil paradise, offering a physical and mental reset after an arduous period.

As we stepped off the plane onto the sun-kissed shore of one little Maldivian island, we could all feel the weight of our worries beginning to lift. Azure waters, powder-white beaches, and lush greenery instantly soothed my weary soul. No schedule of the day, no meetings, no calls, no decision-making… just rest. With no itinerary to follow, I allowed myself to be guided by intuition and just be lazy.

The first three days were dedicated to simply being. I was lounging on the sun deck of my villa, losing myself in the pages of a book or just drifting into a state of meditation. Basically, time went by while listening to the gentle lapping of waves and searching for the end of the universe on the horizon. I had no power to do anything else. Even going to a restaurant was a chore. Healing paradise was my doing nothing paradise.

Later, when my body had time to rest and reset, I embarked on snorkeling adventures. The kaleidoscope of marine life was mesmerizing. I glided alongside spotted eagle rays, sharks, fish, and vibrant coral gardens. Certainly, this experience gave me a profound sense of connection to the natural world and reminded me of life’s natural beauty and resilience.

During a week in this pristine paradise, I discovered the healing power of nature and the importance of rest, self-care, and balance in every aspect of life. The human spirit is remarkably resilient. When life feels overwhelming, we must step back and slow down. Secluded island or the quiet corner of your home – any place can work. If you can find a peaceful space to disconnect, reflect, breathe fresh air, clean your mind from worrying thoughts, sleep, drink, rest, and reconnect with what truly matters, the place where you do this does not matter. But I was lucky to find this place in the beautiful paradise in the Maldives this time.

P.S. I am posting this post almost three weeks after returning from Maldives. I wrote this text on my last day on the island, just before the flight home. There was no time to add photos then, so I thought I would do it when I was back in Dubai. However, back home, life caught me in a hurricane of unfortunate events. There was a flood in Dubai; we stayed four days without any water, and there was damage done to the house by the heavy rain, which we are still fixing. During the flood, drainage water got mixed with tap water in a flooded water tank, so after we got the water back to the villa, the family got sick with gastroenteritis one by one, probably because of the contaminated water. It was much to do and much to take in.

Today, I felt like everything was getting better, and I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. So, I said I needed to post this blog post now or never.

I hope you enjoy my story and views through my camera lens. It was such a needed time for me and such a lovely holiday. We all decided that we would need this healing paradise next year too, and we will be back in the Maldives again.
