A couple of days ago I was reminded how strong could the power of a smile be. Have you ever been in a situation when you get so much for so little – just for a simple smile?
I was queuing at the parking ticket paying machine at the shopping mall parking the other day with my husband and kids. One lady came and joined us in a queue. She had a shopping bag from Patchi – one of the leading chocolate brands in the Middle East today and one of my go-to brands for a nice rich chocolate and black chocolate covered almonds. I looked at her, and when our eyes met, I smiled. She smiled me back. Then, it was our turn to pay for parking, so we paid and went to our car.
Suddenly the lady that was standing behind us in a queue caught us on our way and said: “Wait a bit. I want to give you some chocolate.” She handed Patchi chocolates to each of us. The gesture of that lady was unexpected and gave us a bit of a shock. These chocolates were so beautiful, wrapped in a gorgeous pink paper and decorated with heart-shaped gemstones. Real beauties.
Unbelievable, but true. So much for so little. That generous lady made our day. And I believe we made her day too.
A simple smile can have so much power in it. A smile passes hope and happiness to others. It can be more powerful than a thousand words. My story proofs that a genuine smile goes a long way.
